Transition to school
At Pelican Flat Public School, we are committed to making the transition to Kindergarten a positive and supportive experience for every child and their family. Our transition program provides opportunities for children to become familiar with the school environment, build relationships with staff and peers, and develop confidence before starting school. Enrolments are open at any time, and we welcome families considering joining our school at any stage of their child’s learning journey.

A Strong Start to Kindergarten
We create a welcoming and supportive introduction to school through a range of engaging transition experiences. In Term 3 and 4, children can take part in our Pelican Pals Playgroup, a 15-week program designed to build confidence through play and social interaction, along with preschool and daycare visits, school tours and opportunities for individualised support. In Term 4, our Teddy Bears’ Picnic and orientation visits allow students to explore the school environment, become familiar with routines and begin forming connections with staff and peers.
Partnering with Families Every Step of the Way
We value strong partnerships with families and provide a range of opportunities to support a smooth transition to school. Parent information sessions focus on literacy and numeracy, offering practical strategies to support learning at home. Pre-enrolment interviews and one-on-one meetings allow us to understand each child’s individual needs, ensuring a personalised and confident start to Kindergarten.
